Indiantown and Fellsmere, Florida

During my stay in Florida, we visited many small towns, some of them quite far off the main roads. This is me in Indiantown outside a cafe selling Mexican food, that is run by a Palestinian who married a Chinese. Indiantown has many Mexican laborers who work in the citrus farms there. In the top picture you can see these Mexican laborers. Some of these towns are pretty poverty-stricken. I wonder how the 'Beauty Salon' in Fellsmere in the picture above looks like inside.

At restaurant in Fellsmere called the Marsh Landing, we had this delicous deep-fried duck with black-eyed peas and collard greens, food that is typical of Central Florida.

My American Friends

Americans are in general, very friendly people. I really like them. Especially the older folks in Florida. I had many friends during my 1 year stay there, and to this day, keep in touch with them.

The top three pictures were taken in the home of my dear friends Joel and Sandy Tolle. The bottom picture was taken in the garden of the First United Methodist Church in Melbourne, Florida. Sandy and I loved gardening, and every Wednesday, she would fetch me to the church for gardening. I really enjoyed that.

In Front of The White House

This is me in front of the White House. Well, actually it is very far away. After 9/11, many layers of security were erected and visitors can now only view the White House from far away. You can see the barricades, and the Police Car in the top picture

As you may have guessed by now, I like super stores with super-cheap goods. Americans should thank Wal-Mart for protecting them from inflation.
